Diagnostic
Services

Know your Health,
Know your Peace of Mind

MSA PH’s diagnostic services are focused on correctly identifying, detecting, and monitoring diseases to promote and maintain a patient’s health. The presence or absence of a condition is detected through diagnostic tests.

We offer Diagnostic Services for MSA-PH

Blood Gas Analysis

Through a blood test, the blood gas analysis can measure the amount of certain gases, such as oxygen and carbon dioxide dissolved in arterial blood. This measurement can determine how well a patient’s lungs can transport oxygen into and remove carbon dioxide from the blood to detect certain medical conditions. Blood gas analysis is often administered to patients with pH or oxygen/carbon dioxide imbalance. Equipment needed to perform this include the arterial blood gas (ABG) machine, extraction kit, disinfectant solution, reagents, and result forms.

Pulmonary Function Test

A pulmonary function test (PFT) is a non-invasive procedure which can be administered through a PFT machine. The test can measure lung volumes, flow rates, pulmonary mechanics and respiratory and muscle functions, to help diagnose certain lung disorders. PFTs are often conducted as part of a routine physical exam to ensure a person’s health.

Cardiac Monitoring

Cardiac monitoring is the continuous observation of cardiac performance through a monitor. It is often used during critical conditions, special procedures, and transport to different departments to display the patient’s heart rate and electrocardiograph (ECG) waveforms with screen indicators for abnormal parameter readings. Cardiac monitoring also identifies life-threatening diagnosis or a critical diseases.

Pulse Oximetry

Monitoring oxygenation is done through pulse oximetry, which shows how well a patient’s heart is pumping oxygen through the body.Oxygenation can be observed by passing two wavelengths of light, one red and one infrared, through the body tissue to a photo detector.

2D Echocardiography

2D echocardiography, popularly called 2D echo, is a non-invasive test used to analyze the function of the heart and view its sections. This procedure gives images of the different parts of the heart with the help of ultrasound vibrations. It aids the physician in examining for damages, blockages, and blood flow rate of the heart.

Exercise Stress Test

An exercise stress test is used to determine how well a patient’s heart functions and responds during times of increased work or activity. During testing, the patient shall be asked to perform an imposed exercise, usually done on a treadmill, while attached to an electrocardiogram (EKG) machine to monitor heart rate and rhythm. The exercise intensity shall be adjusted incrementally until an endpoint is reached terminating the procedure. Healthcare providers such as a respiratory therapist and a doctor shall be present while the entire procedure is being performed.

Peak Expiratory Flow Rate

Peak expiratory flow rate (PEFR) is the volume of air forcefully expelled from the lungs in one forceful exhalation. PEFR measurement is performed by the patient using a peak flowmeter to know ventilation adequacy as well as airflow obstruction. Peak flow values can vary from person to person dependent on certain factors such as sex, age and height and airway condition.
